Sant Nirankari Mission is not a prevalent religion or sect, but a spiritual ideology. It was started in 1929 by Baba Buta Singh in Peshawar, which is now in Pakistan. With the partition, its foundation was laid in India in 1948 and its headquarters is in Delhi.

Today I am talking of a saint who, by serving the people selflessly, brought the popularity of his Nirankari organization abroad by breaking the similes of India. Canada has the highest number of followers abroad in the country. But on 13 May 2016, he died untimely in a car accident in the same country. This news is no less for his followers. Childhood & Parents:

Baba Hardev Singh was born into a Sikh family in Delhi. His father Gurbachan Singh was a Satguru. His mother’s name is Kulwant Kaur.

Baba Hardev Singh’s father being the third guru of the Nirankari community (organization) spent his childhood in spirituality, which had a great impact on his mind and thoughts.

Education:

His initial education took place at home and he was admitted to Rosary Public School, Delhi for further studies. But in 1963, his schooling was completed from Yadavindra Public School, Patiala but he did his college from Delhi University.

Nirankari organization:

Like his father in 1971, he joined Nirankari Seva Dal and started serving people selflessly. His father was assassinated in 1980, due to which the post of head of Sant Nirankari Mission became vacant. Then, with the consensus of all, Baba Hardev Singh was made the head of this mission. In this way he became the next Satguru of the Nirankari community.

Baba Hardev’s ancestors could not spread this mission outside India despite millions of efforts. But with the influence of Baba Hardev, this organization was doubled by day and Chaugani spread by night. This is the reason that today, followers of Baba Hardev are not only in India, but also in large numbers abroad. According to a 2009 report, 100 branches of this organization are working for public service in around 27 countries.

Death:

On Friday, 13 May 2016, 62-year-old Baba Hardev died in a car accident in Canada, which is sad news for his followers.

Nirankari Baba was married to Savinder Kaur in 1958.
