The festival of Holi, as we all know holds a great significance in the festival lists of the Hindus. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy all over the country and abroad as well. Falling every year in the month of Falgun, as per the Hindu Calendar, the festival holds a great cultural significance. Holi is the festival of brother hood and people forgive others on this day. It is celebrated when people apply abeer, gulal and other colors on each other and greet Happy Holi. The festival of Holi has great historical and religious significance associated with it as well that dates back thousands of years during the reign of the demon king Hiran Kashyapu. It is said that he ordered his demonic sister Holika, to burn his own son Prehlad who was an ardent worshipper of Lord Vishnu in a pyre, however Holika had a boon that fire cannot burn her but the tables turned and Holika was burned instead of Prehlad and he survived the fire. Thus, people burn Holi and celebrate the victory of good over evil.
