Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. This month is considered as the holy month by Muslims all over the country and even abroad. During this month Muslims follow strict spiritual discipline. This month marks the commemoration of the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad as per Islamic belief.

Ramzan Eid/ Eid Ul Fitr 2019: Date

Ramzan will officially begin from 5th May, Sunday and ends of 4th June, Tuesday. Of course, the end of Ramadan month is determined by the day moon is seen. And thus the end date can fluctuate.

Fasting during this month is regarded as one of the major five pillars of Islam. The month lasts for 29-30 days and the fasting also continues for these 29-30 days. The month and the fasting both ends by seeing the moon and then consuming food. Local mosque declares the end of this holy month. This is one of the toughest fasts of all times and people who follow Islam all over the world observe this fast firmly.

Eid Ul Fitr 2019: Importance of Ramzan

The month is known by different names. Some people call it as Ramzan whereas some refer the holy month as Ramzan, Ramadan, Ramadhan. Ramadan is derived from the Arabic word Ramida or Ar – Ramad. This mean scorching heat increased temperatures and dryness.

Fasting during this month is characterized by observing prayers and performing Namaaz five times a day. Also, during this month people who follow Islamic religion are advised to do charity and indulge themselves in charity work. Extensive prayers are conducted during night time and even the Quran is also read all days throughout this month.

This is symbolic to the month of Ramzaan which is mostly at the peak summer season. This month is also considered as the month where spiritual purification is done. Islamic people refrain from doing any kind of evil and they only allow positive thoughts and deeds in their mind.

This is said to be one of the difficult months and thus pregnant ladies, breastfeeding ladies, children and people who are aged or suffering from any kind of chronic illness are advised not to do these fasts.

Muslims during this month fast from dawn to dusk. They don’t consume any food or drink. Even water is prohibited during this time. Also, any sexual activity or even saying ill words is strictly prohibited this month.

They should also not indulge in any kind of fighting experience. Pre-fast meals which are consumed during dawn is known as Suhoor. While meals which are consumed during the dusk time which marks the end of that day fast is known as Iftaar.

“Night of power” which falls on the last five days of Ramadan period is very significant during this time. This is the time when the holy Quran was revealed to Mohammad. On this day special prayers are offered throughout the night and devotees also offer camel and goats which is further used for the suhur.

Eid Ul Fitr 2019 – Celebrations

World’s largest Islamic nation, Indonesia receives a footfall of approximately 7 million people who travel to the holy Mecca during Ramadan period. Other countries like UAE, Egypt, Afghanistan also make extensive arrangements during this time of the year.

Muslims during this month of the year meet with their relatives and close friends. And when the month ends then a meet and greet is the must. Elaborate meals are prepared and young members of the family greet elders and seek their blessings. Also, people indulge in wearing new clothes and visit other’s houses and greet everyone. The month end is marked by offering prayers in the nearest mosque where everyone is seen wearing white kurta and pajama.

Eid Ul Fitr 2019: Cultural Practices

There are different kind of cultural practices which are performed during this month. Lights are hanged on the public places in most of the Islamic countries. Huge lanterns are also hanged at the city streets during the month of holy Ramdaan.

Employment During Ramdaan Month

Many people believe that muslims observe leave for the entire month from their offices and work place. But this is quite false. Prophet Muhammad very clearly said that Muslims must indulge in work during this holy month. He also emphasized on the need of having a balance between your work and religion. There are some Muslim countries like Oman where work hours are shortened during the month of Ramdaan.

In some Islamic countries people also receive one month bonus which is mostly given to celebrate the festival with grace and enjoyment.

You might have been hearing Eid Ul Fitr also along with Ramadan. And you might wonder that both of these are the same. But no there stands a difference between Ramadan and Eid Ul Fitr.

Eid is celebrated at the end of the Ramadan period. The last day of Ramadan month when the fasting ends and gala meals are organized for everyone is known as Eid. During the entire holy month, people are advised to make donations and indulge themselves in charity work. And the donations which you make just before the namaaz is read is known as Fitr. And thus this day is also known as Eid Ul Fitr.
